The 2017/18 tentative assessment roll, released on January 15, is now final. What does this mean for taxpayers? The final assessment is the figure that New York City will use to calculate tax bills for the July 1 2017 – June 30 2018 fiscal year. Meanwhile the New York City Tax Commission will be conducting hearings on assessment challenges that were filed earlier in the year. For those taxpayers that did file applications with the Tax Commission and received unfavorable results, petitions may be filed through October 24 to appeal those results.
