Filing Deadline for RPIE Statements Is June 1.
By Susan Mancuso | Posted onThe RPIE statement, required for income-producing properties, is due on June 1. The Department of Finance reports that this information is used to establish assessments for income producing properties, although a review of the annual notices of property value of many properties suggest that DOF does not always rely on these figures. Regardless, the penalties for failing to file this information can be significant. Monetary penalties based on the amount of a property’s assessment are imposed and will appear on a non-filer’s tax bill. In addition, the Tax Commission will not schedule a hearing for property owners if DOF reports that the property had not filed its RPIE in the prior year.
